Among the FTSE 100 constituents, Smurfit Kappa Group PLC saw the largest increase, with shares rising by 4.74%. NatWest Group PLC and DS Smith PLC also experienced gains, with their shares rallying 3.48% and 2.25% respectively. Furthermore, Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC and Bunzl PLC rounded out the top five gainers, as their stocks rose by 2.05% and 2.00%.
Top Losers
Despite the overall positive trend, United Utilities Group PLC witnessed the largest decline among the FTSE 100 constituents, with shares shedding 3.02% on Thursday. Severn Trent PLC and abrdn PLC also experienced declines, with their shares falling by 2.56% and 2.54% respectively. Additionally, International Distribution Services PLC and Rentokil Initial PLC saw their stocks decrease by 1.58% and 1.36% respectively.

The pound experienced a dip of 0.45% against the dollar, closing at $1.2637, while it rose by 0.13% against the euro, reaching €1.1588. In the commodities market, Brent crude shed 2.8% to reach a price of $80.57 per barrel. Moreover, the yield on the 10-year gilt rose by 7.450 basis points to settle at 4.177%.
