Threads, the popular mobile-only app, is now making its way to desktop computers. This highly anticipated update has been met with enthusiasm from users and could potentially reinvigorate user growth for Facebook's parent company, Meta Platforms Inc. The desktop version of Threads will closely resemble the functions of its competitor, X (formerly known as Twitter), and is set to be rolled out in the coming days.
Users can expect a seamless experience on the desktop version of Threads, as they will be able to log in, post, view, and interact with other users' posts via their browser. Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, recently outlined these new features in a Threads post.
According to a recent report by market researcher Sensor Tower, Threads witnessed a decline of 82% in daily active users by late July, reaching approximately 8 million users. However, thanks to subsequent updates, this number rebounded to 11 million daily active users by mid-August.
While Meta's stock value remained unchanged during early-afternoon trading on Tuesday, the introduction of the desktop version of Threads signifies Meta's commitment to meeting user demands and recuperating from recent setbacks.
